Q. Can you post these kits around Australia?
A Yes these kits can be posted to any address in Australia. They are A5 or smaller in size. We use Australia Post
Q. What materials are used in these kits?
A. We only use Australian sourced 3 Ply Plywood in our kits. This gives a very stable kit in the long term
Q. How do you recommend painting the kits?
A. Painting is best carried out using an airbrush. This preserves the very fine detail on the kit exterior. Many light coats of paint will give a much better finish to the kit. It is best to paint the major assemblies of the kit prior to full assembly of the kit to give a better result.
Q. What sort of paint is used on these kits
A. We recommend acrylic house type paint, well-watered down for use in the spray gun.
Q. What sort of glue do we use in these kits?
A. We recommend using wood working PVA glue in our kits. This glue dries to a clear finish and is quick drying. We do not supply glue in the kits as it does not travel well.
Q. What styles of kits do you have available
A. Our catalogue is attached on this website. Please keep in touch and we can let you know when a new kit is available. We usually have a new kit each month to keep the “township” current.
Q. Where are you modelling?
A. The kits are mostly based in the Queensland and NSW areas of Australia. We think that the architecture of the 1920’s to 1960’s is very interesting to model, hence the focus upon these eras. Obviously, there are a lot of these buildings still in use even now.
Q. How difficult are the kits to build?
A. We have designed the kits to be able to be built with minimal skill to achieve a great outcome. The only cutting involved in making the kit is to remove the parts from the protective backing plates and cleaning up the edges where there is some remnant joint material may remain. Joints need to be cemented using PVA glue.
Most parts fit together with tabs ensuring that the kit is self-supporting at all times during the construction process.
Smaller scale kits are a little more difficult to construct as the pieces are smaller and require a degree of care in their construction.
Q. Are you extending the range of kits
A. We regularly add new buildings to the range so that there is always a new facet to add to your layout
Q. How extensive are the instruction sheets?
A. Our instruction sheets are extremely detailed, they have a description of all steps in the construction of the kits, together with a photograph of the construction step being described.
Q. Do you make One off buildings?
A. We will consider constructing a special kit, however we need sufficient information to enable us to scale the building and detail about the exterior of the building. We have constructed architectural models and welcome enquiries.
